This weekend May 13 & 14 we be our final movie in our spring series of Reel Arts Film. The movie is I, Daniel Blake. at 4:00 pm. The series will return in September of 2017. We would like to thank everyone who attended our linie up great movies. You (the patron) made it a success for the series to continue. Reel Newz Briefs:

DIANE KEATON (Hampstead) will star with Jane Fonda and Candice Bergen in the comedy Book Club, about lifelong friends who read “Fifty Shades of Grey,” in the their book club and it turns their lives upside down.

MICHELLE WILLIAMS (Manchester by the Sea) is in talks to co-star with Chris Pine as CIA operatives in the spy thriller All the Old Knives.

DAVE CHAPPELLE has joined the cast of Warner’s upcoming A Star is Born.  Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga star in the remake, which will mark Cooper’s directing debut.

MATTHEW VAUGHN (Kingsman: The Golden Circle) has announced that a third film in The Kingsman franchise is being developed.

LIONSGATE has announced an August 11, 2017, release date for the comedy-drama The Glass Castle.  Brie Larson stars in the film based on Jeannette Walls' 2005 memoir of the same name.  Naomi Watts and Woody Harrelson co-star in the film as Larson’s parents.

ROADSIDE ATTRACTIONS is planning a limited October 20, 2017, U.S. release date for director Todd Haynes' Wonderstruck, starring Julianne Moore.  The film will premiere at the Cannes Film Festival later this month.

MELISSA MCCARTHY (Life of the Party) will star in STX Entertainment’s The Happytime Murders.  The comedy will be directed by Brian Henson and is set in a Los Angeles where puppets and humans coexist.  The story follows two detectives, one human and one puppet, who are forced to work together to solve the mystery of who is murdering the former cast members of a popular puppet show called “The Happytime Gang.”

INGRID BISU (Toni Erdmann) will join Demian Bichir and Taissa Famiga in The Nun, the upcoming spinoff of The Conjuring 2.

SAM CLAFLIN (My Cousin Rachel) will star in the crime thriller Semper Fi, about a Marine Corps sergeant forced to help his younger brother break out of prison.

RALPH FIENNES (The Invisible Woman) will not only direct The White Crow, the biography of the Soviet ballet dancer and choreographer Rudolf Nureyev, but Fiennes will also play the role of Nureyev’s mentor in the film.

BRIAN DE PALMA (Lights Out) will direct Domino, a contemporary thriller about a Danish policeman who goes rogue to track down those responsible for the death of his partner.

DAISY RIDLEY (Star Wars: The Last Jedi) will star in the romantic tragedy Ophelia, a contemporary reimagining of William Shakespeare’s “Hamlet."  Naomi Watts and Clive Owen will co-star in the film.

LEA SEYDOUX  (Spectre) will star opposite Ewan McGregor in the futuristic romance Zoe.  The story follows a pair of researchers who design technology to improve relationships.

CHARLIE PLUMMER (The Dinner) will portray J. Paul Getty’s kidnapped grandson in director Ridley Scott’s upcoming All the Money in the World.

SUSAN SARANDON, CHRISTINE BARANSKI AND CHERYL HINES have been cast as the mothers of the characters played by Kathryn Hahn, Mila Kunis and Kristen Bell in STX’s sequel Bad Moms Christmas.  The comedy is scheduled for a November 3, 2017, release date.

THOMAS KALL, the award-winning director of Broadway’s “Hamilton,” will direct the drama Silver Wings, the true story of the Women Airforce Service Pilots, the first women to fly for the U.S. military.

FOX has announced that director Steven Spielberg’s untitled Pentagon Papers drama will open in a limited release on December 22, 2017.  Tom Hanks and Meryl Streep co-star in the film.

"Ghost in the Shell"

Synopsis: Cyborg agent Motoko Kusanagi (Scarlett Johansson) lives in 2029 futuresque-Japan, where artificial intelligence is more real than reality itself. Although Motoko is aware of what she is, she knows that she was once a human, and longs for the ability to experience that connection again. She has a past, and vows to uncover the mystery around the person she used to be. With her security team Public Security Section 9, she must take down notorious hacker, the Puppet Master. However, as Motoko begins to question her entire existence, her ability to distinguish where humanity ends and cyborgism begins is put the ultimate test.
    Based on the Japanese manga series of the same name by Masamune Shirow.

"I, Daniel Blake"

Synopsis: Daniel Blake (Dave Johns), a 59-year-old carpenter living in Newcastle, England, has recently suffered a heart attack. Told by his doctor that he can't return to work, he applies for disability assistance. When his claim is denied, despite having papers from his doctor confirming his condition, Daniel has to sell off his furniture to survive. With no computer skills, he has a difficult time trying to find another way to make a living. Single mother Katie (Hayley Squires), who has two children by two different fathers, is also struggling to survive. She's been relocated from London to Newcastle, where the cost of living is cheaper. Even so, she goes without food and other basic necessities in order to make sure her kids have enough. When Daniel meets her at the welfare office, he becomes a grandfatherly figure to her kids and tries to help by making some repairs to the apartment where they live.
