Show time is 4:00 pm. I can also conifrm the next movie in the spring series, the Bristish movie I, Daniel Blake. May 13 & 14 ay 4:00 pm.

Reel Newz Briefs:

KEVIN HART is in talks to reunite with director Tim Story (Ride Along) on Universal’s comedy Night School.  The film follows a grip of misfits who attend adult classes in the hopes of passing the GED exam.

ROBERT DUVALL (The Judge) has joined the ensemble cast of director Steve McQueen’s thriller Widows.  Duvall will play the father of the character played by Colin Farrell in the film.

HUGO WEAVING will reunite with Lord of the Rings director Peter Jackson on the fantasy Mortal Engines.  The film is set far in the future where Earth’s cities roam the globe on huge wheels, devouring each other in a struggle to survive.

A24 FILMS has announced a November 3, 2017, release date for The Killing of a Sacred Deer, starring Nicole Kidman and Colin Farrell.  The film was directed by Yorgos Lanthimos (The Lobster).

FOX SEARCHLIGHT has set a November 10, 2017, release date for Goodbye Christopher Robin, starring Domnhall Gleeson and Margot Robbie.  Gleeson portrays British author A.A. Milne in the film.

PARAMOUNT has signed Barry Blaustein and David Sheffield, the screenwriters of the 1988 film Coming to America, to pen a sequel to the Eddie Murphy comedy.

SARAH POLLEY (Stories We Tell) has optioned the feature film rights to Canadian Zoe Whittall’s novel “The Best Kind of People.”  Polley with adapt the screenplay and also direct the story about a respected father and teacher who is arrested for a sex crime.

JOSH BROLIN (Hail Caesar!) will play the role of Cable in Fox’s upcoming sequel Deadpool 2.  Brolin will also play the villain Thanos in Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War.

BENEDICT CUMBERBATCH (Doctor Strange) is in talks to star in Fox Searchlight’s film adaptation of “The Man in the Rockefeller Suit.”  The story about a man who conned his way into several Wall Street jobs and also a marriage, by pretending to be a member of the wealthy Rockefeller family. 

EDGAR WRIGHT (Baby Driver) is in talks to direct Grasshopper Jungle, the film version of Andrew Smith’s young adult novel about a group of  teenagers in Iowa who accidentally unleash an unstoppable army of 6-foot-tall preying mantises.

MAGNOLIA PICTURES has acquired the U.S. distribution rights to the documentary Leaning into the Wind.  The film follows British artist Andy Goldsworthy as he searches for inspiration from hillsides, rugged terrain and other outdoor spaces.  Goldsworthy was the subject of the 2001 film Rivers and Tides.

"The Promise"

Synopsis: Michael (Oscar Isaac) is a humble Armenian medical student, who leaves his village of Siroun to study medicine in Constantinople. He then meets the beautiful Armenian artist Ana (Charlotte Le Bon), and the two bond over their shared heritage. However, Ana is in a relationship with American journalist Chris (Christian Bale). A romantic rivalry explodes between the two men amid the chaos of war as Constantinople crumbles under the falling Ottoman Empire and Armenians are targeted. Both men are struggling to stay alive while also fighting for their respective relationships with Ana.

While attempting to find purpose within the village, she accidentally crosses paths with a mysterious creature that she follows into the Enchanted Forest. Joined by her brothers Brainy (Danny Pudi), Hefty (Joe Manganiello) and Clumsy (Jack McBrayer), they set off on an adventure of epic proportions to find a mysterious lost village, before the evil wizard Gargamel (Rainn Wilson) does so first.

Despite her crippled hands, Maud yearns to be independent and to live away from her overprotective family, but most of all, she wants to create art. An unlikely romance blossoms between herself and Everett, as she determinedly hones her skills despite her pain, and overcomes the physical challenge of juvenile rheumatoid arthritis. She eventually rises to become one of Canada’s premier folk artists, whose paintings hang in The White House.

"I, Daniel Blake"

Synopsis: Daniel Blake (Dave Johns), a 59-year-old carpenter living in Newcastle, England, has recently suffered a heart attack. Told by his doctor that he can't return to work, he applies for disability assistance. When his claim is denied, despite having papers from his doctor confirming his condition, Daniel has to sell off his furniture to survive. With no computer skills, he has a difficult time trying to find another way to make a living. Single mother Katie (Hayley Squires), who has two children by two different fathers, is also struggling to survive. She's been relocated from London to Newcastle, where the cost of living is cheaper. Even so, she goes without food and other basic necessities in order to make sure her kids have enough. When Daniel meets her at the welfare office, he becomes a grandfatherly figure to her kids and tries to help by making some repairs to the apartment where they live.
