Reel Newz Briefs:BEYONCE is in talks to voice the role of Nala in Disney’s live-action remake of The Lion King. Donald Glover will voice Simba. ZOEY DEUTCH will reunite with her Everybody Wants Some co-star Glen Powell in the romantic comedy The Set Up, about two overworked assistants who try to pair up their horrible bosses. OSCAR ISSAC (The Promise) will star in the drama Operation Finale, the story of the capture of World War II Nazi Adolf Eichmann in Argentina in 1960. JOSS WHEDON (The Avengers) will write, direct and produce an untitled Batgirl film for Warner Brothers. STX has signed director Robert Rodriguez to produce and direct its animated film Ugly Dolls, based on the children’s toy line Uglydoll. The release date will be May 10, 2019. WARNERS has announced that Annabelle: Creation will be the official title of the sequel to the horror film Annabelle. The film will be released on August 11, 2017. COLIN FARRELL (Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them) is in talks to star in Disney’s live-action remake of Dumbo. PAUL GREENGRASS (Jason Bourne) will will direct Paramount’s Ness, a film based on the life of U.S. Treasury Department agent Elliot Ness, who brought gangster Al Capone to justice. PARAMOUNT has announced a November 3, 2017, release date for Suburbicon, starring Matt Damon and Julianne Moore. George Clooney directed the film which was written by Joel and Ethan Coen. SONY is in talks with director Michael Bay (Transformers: The Last Knight) to develop a film adaptation of the book “Hunting El Chapo:The Thrilling Inside Story of the American Lawman Who Captures the World’s Most Wanted Drug Lord.” THE ORCHARDS has acquired the U.S. distribution rights to direct Raoul Peck’s (I Am Not Your Negro) drama The Young Karl Marx. The film will be released next fall.
