Reel Newz Briefs:

MICHELLE YEOH (Mechanic: Resurrection) will join Constance Wu in Warner’s upcoming Crazy Rich Asians.

UMA THURMAN will reunite with her Nymphomaniac director Lars von Trier on the English-language film The House That Jack Built, the Danish auteur’s thriller which will star Matt Dillon as a serial killer.

FIONN O’SHEA, the Irish actor who stars in Handsome Devil, will star opposite Keira Knightley and Alexander Skarsgard in Fox Searchlight’s The Aftermath.  The film is based on Rhidian Brook’s novel of the same name.

JAMES CAMERON has announced that the sequel Avatar 2 will not be released at Christmas in 2018 as previously planned and will be delayed.  Cameron is overseeing the production of four sequels, Avatar 2, 3, 4 and 5 which will all be shot simultaneously.  He also stated that he will be devoting the next eight years of his life to the Avatar sequels.

IFC FILMS has acquired the North American distribution rights to the wilderness drama Walking Out, starring Matt Bomer and Josh Wiggins as a father and son who endure an extreme hunting trip in Montana.  The film was directed by brothers Alex and Andrew Smith and premiered at this year’s Sundance Film Festival.

MAGNOLIA PICTURES has acquired North American distribution rights to Lemon, starring comedian Brett Gelman as a 40-year-old man trying to cope with a dead career, his overbearing family and his girlfriend leaving him.  The film screened on Friday at the South By Southwest Film Festival.

EVA GREEN (Miss Peregrine’s School for Peculiar Children) is in talks to star for director Tim Burton in Disney’s live-action remake of the classic animated film Dumbo.  Danny DeVito is also in talks to co-star in the film.

ZAZIE BEETZ of the hit series “Atlanta,” will play the role of Domino in Deadpool 2.  In the Marvel comics, the character of Domino is a mutant with telekinetic powers.  Ryan Reynolds will reprise his role as Deadpool and David Leitch (John Wick) will direct the film.

EUGENIO DERBEZ, the writer, director and star of Batteries Not Included, will star opposite Anna Faris in a remake of the 1987 comedy Overboard which starred Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell.  In the new version of the film, Derbez will play a rich playboy who falls from his yacht and then falls in love with a single, working class mom played by Faris.

SAMUEL L. JACKSON (Kong: Skull Island) will star with Sebastian Stan in the political drama The Last Full Measure, the story of a Pentagon investigator who convinces Congress to award the Medal of Honor to a courageous Air Force medic.

T.J. MILLER (Office Christmas Party) is in talks to star opposite Kristen Stewart in the deep-sea thriller Underwater.

PANTELION FILMS’ April 28 release of the comedy How to Be a Latin Lover, will mark the company’s widest release ever in the United States.  The comedy about an aging Latin Lothario (played by Eugenio Derbez) will open in Mexico on May 5.

DAKOTA JOHNSON (Fifty Shades Darker) will star in and produce the historical courtroom drama Unfit.  The film centers on Carrie Buck, the plaintiff in a 1927 Supreme Court case that she lost.  Buck had been sterilized three years earlier at the age of 18 under a Virginia law that legalized the sterilization of undesirable citizens.

MARGOT ROBBIE (I, Tonya) will star in Marian, an upcoming drama from Sony about the maiden of Robin Hood who leads her people into battle following the death of Robin Hood.

TOM HANKS (The Circle) will star with Meryl Streep for director Steven Spielberg in The Post.  The film focuses on the story surrounding The Washington Post’s role in publishing the “Pentagon Papers.”  Hanks will portray Post editor Benjamin Bradlee and Streep will play publisher Kay Graham.

JASON MOMOA (Justice League) will star in the action film Just Cause, based on the Square Enix video game.  Brad Peyton (San Andreas) will direct the film.

TRAVIS KNIGHT (Kubo and the Two Strings) will direct Paramount’s Transformers spinoff film Bumblebee.

While she sees no importance in the color of his skin, he knows it's going to be an issue.As they make their way to Rose's family estate, he is immediately subjected to racial profiling by a cop; but he just chocks it up to typical white suburban behavior. When they arrive at the vast estate, Rose's parents (Catherine Keener and Bradley Whitford) do not hide their discomfort at their daughter's choice of suitor. And as the awkward visit drags on, Chris begins to notice that all the African Americans in the town are acting strangely — almost as if they're hypnotized — and soon uncovers a twisted plot that may leave him at the mercy of the townsfolk.

As a teenager, Chiron (Ashton Sanders) continues to be bullied at school. He questions his sexuality as he spends time with Kevin (Jharrel Jerome). Ten years later, Chiron, now referred to as Black (Trevante Rhodes), is a changed man on the outside. He looks tough but is still the same emotional kid. Old feelings come back when he reunites with Kevin (Andre Holland).
